Students accepted into the College Mindset Academy
Program are enrolled and are required to
attend monthly Saturday Sessions. These sessions focus on student leadership through the use of networking techniques that scaffold the development and mastery of fundamental soft skills. Skills that will prepare them for our Ivy League Summer College Tour.
Our Ivy League Summer College Tour affords students the opportunity to explore various East Coast universities first hand and network with faculty and current students. Students will spend a week the East Coast visiting universities such as: Georgetown, George Washington University, American University, Swarthmore, University of Pennsylvania, Princeton, Columbia, Yale, Brown, MIT, Harvard, Boston University and Boston College. As well as taking in the sights and having fun!
Students are also guided through the College Readiness Process. We assist students in developing their personal statement, submitting scholarship applications, completing financial aid documents, and registering their Apply Texas and their Common App student accounts. Along with this, students receive tips on the college interview and first hand presentations from Ivy League graduates!

Luis Martinez has 15 years of experience in the education field. For the past 6 years he has been a college advisor at a local high school. He comes with extensive experience in guiding students through the college application process and has a vast network of college admissionscounselors and recruiters. His efforts have been praised by educators and colleges alike. Most recently he was awarded the Very Important Counselor award by Texas A&M University, naming him as one of the top 20 college counselors in the state of Texas. Along with this, he has vast experience in organizing and leading college tours for local high school students.
Mr. Martinez holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and a Master of Business Administration Degree in Business Management from the University of Texas at El Paso, he is also a member of the Texas Association for College Admission Counseling.
Along with his education and experience, he is passionate about the city of El Paso, enriching the lives of local youth and offering educational opportunities.

Daniel Valdez is a seasoned college readiness advisor with over 10 years of direct experience in the education field. His expertise in guiding students and their parents has proved successful as many have attended and graduated from Ivy League and various other prestigious four year universities.
His prior experience includes working and serving as a college advisor in a local high school from 2008-2012, as the Credit by Examination Specialist at UT Austin from 2005-2008, and as an Office Assistant for the Director of the UT Austin Honors College from 2001-2005.
Daniel holds a BA in Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin and recently earned his MBA from the University of Texas at El Paso in 2013, making him a valuable asset and partner within the education and businesscommunity.
Daniel currently serves as the Coordinator of a Business Management Education Cooperative Program and as a member of TACAC(Texas Association for College Admission Counseling). His extensive track record is only complimented by his passion and willingness to ensure that each of his students’ has an opportunity to be successful in fulfilling their educational goals.
1. Students must be in 9th, 10th or 11th grade.
2. Students must be enrolled in Dual Credit, IB, Pre-AP or AP classes.
3. Students must have a grade point average of 95 or higher.
